American experts predict the possibility of Israel intercepting a `rain of fire` from Iran

(Dan Tri) – American military experts commented on Israel’s ability to deal with hundreds of UAVs and missiles that Iran may launch in the next few hours.

Retired US Air Force Lt. Col. Karen Kwiatkowski told Sputnik that although Israel has a strong air defense system, the country will likely have difficulty with missile and drone attacks in large numbers.

Previously, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesman Daniel Hagari confirmed on the evening of March 14 that the drone flew from Iran toward Israel.

US media quoted an official predicting that 400-500 drones and missiles from Iran, Iraq, Syria, South Lebanon and Yemen will be launched into Israel in the near future.

US officials anticipate the attack will be large-scale but will focus on military and government facilities, not civilian areas.

According to expert Kwiatkowski, Israel will use the famous Iron Dome system to intercept Iranian missiles and UAVs.

`That means 10% of missiles and UAVs can still fly through. On the other hand, the disadvantage of Iron Dome is the cost and number of interceptor missiles. Each Iron Dome missile costs nearly 50,000 USD

According to her, this attack could lead to a more intense war in the region, as Iran has the ability to launch fire from a series of areas across the Middle East to disrupt Israeli air defenses.

However, it could also lead to negotiations between the parties regarding the situation in Gaza and neighboring countries in the Middle East, although this scenario remains unclear at the present time.

Israel is carrying out a military campaign in Gaza, while also dealing with Hezbollah in Lebanon, as well as other pro-Iranian forces in the Middle East.

Iran and its backed forces in the Middle East believe that Israel will need to be punished for its actions in Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon as well as Syria.

The Iron Dome missile defense system is said to play an important role in Israel’s efforts to intercept a `rain` of missiles from opponents in the region.

Iron Dome relies on a system of radar and analysis to determine whether a missile target poses a threat.
