What happens when Captain America returns the six Infinity Stones to their starting point?
The MCU ended its 11-year saga with one of the most anticipated cinematic events of all time.
According to the MCU’s explanation, it is impossible to undo what happened in the past, but the Avengers discovered that they could travel through time to collect 6 Infinity Stones.
The Infinity Stones play an important role in keeping the timeline intact.
Steve Rogers finally returned as an old man, after traveling to the past and living with his wife Peggy Carter.
What happened during Cap’s trip to the past?
Return the Soul Stone to the planet Vormir
The most interesting trip is probably the trip to return the Soul Stone to the planet Vormir, where the Red Skull was injured by touching the Tesseract in Captain America: The First Avenger.
The reason why this trip is so interesting lies in Steve’s attitude towards Red Skull’s new `job` and the conversation between the two sides afterward, especially when Red Skull is now different in thinking and vision.
Another notable point is when the Soul Stone returns, will Black Widow be revived or not?
Return the Space Stone to SHIELD
The mission to return the Space Stone to its rightful place takes Captain America back to 1970. After Loki stole the Tesseract in 2012, Steve and Tony Stark went to Camp Lehigh to retrieve the Infinity Stones and add Pym Particles
The vault in SHIELD’s secret bunker where Tony Stark took the Space Stone appears to be the location of Arnim Zola’s laboratory.
Captain America once escaped Camp Lehigh without being detected, but this luck may not repeat unless he is taken straight inside by the Quantum Realm.
It’s possible that Peggy Carter, Howard Stark or Arnim Zola saw Steve in 1970. This would definitely shock them.
Return the Time Stone to the Ancient One
Captain America’s trip to 2012 to return the Time Stone to the Caveman may be one of the most important meetings.
The Ancient One might even be grateful to Steve and the Avengers for returning the Time Stone so her timeline wouldn’t collapse, explaining to Steve that these actions wouldn’t change the timeline.
However, Captain America’s new shield at the end of Avengers: Endgame hinted at some changes.
Return the Mind Stone to Hydra
Captain America was responsible for returning the Mind Stone to Hydra.
Steve once obtained Loki’s scepter by telling Agent Sitwell and the Strike Team that he was a member of Hydra, because the organization needed it to give power to the Maximoff twins.
To complete his mission, Captain America may need to act differently.
However, stopping another version of himself from obtaining the Mind Stone would create an alternate timeline where the Avengers would need to find another way to obtain the item.
Return the Reality Stone to Jane Foster
Returning the Reality Stone is probably the most difficult task for Captain America when he has to sneak into Asgard to find Jane Foster.
However, the most difficult thing is that Steve must inject Aether into Jane without the owner finding out.
Return the Power Stone to Star-Lord
Captain America will have the opportunity to meet Peter Quill (or Star-Lord) when he places the Power Stone back on the planet Morag.
But since the timeline has been significantly altered, Captain America and Star-Lord could very well come face to face.
