According to Xinhua, at a meeting with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on June 19, President Xi Jinping said the world needs a stable China-US relationship and cooperation between the two countries.
`The common interests of the two countries should be valued and each country’s success should be seen as an opportunity, rather than a threat to each other,` Xi said.
According to Mr. Xi, the international community in general is concerned about the current state of China-US relations.
`They do not want to see conflict or confrontation between China and the US or have to choose sides between the two countries. They hope the two countries can coexist peacefully and have friendly and cooperative relations,` Mr. Xi added.
The Chinese leader emphasized that competition between major countries does not represent the trend of the times, much less can it solve America’s own problems or the challenges facing the world.

Before meeting President Xi Jinping, Secretary of State Blinken met with his Chinese counterpart Qin Gang and Chairman of the Office of the Central Foreign Affairs Work Commission of China Wang Yi.
Mr. Blinken is the highest-ranking US official to visit China in the past five years.
